Site Analysis Introduction – Digital Skill Portal

Site Analysis Introduction

As set out in National Planning Framework 4: ‘Planning is a powerful tool for delivering change on the ground in a way which brings together competing interests so that decisions reflect the long-term public interest.’ Central to this across both Development Planning and Development Management is however the identification, appraisal, progression and promotion of key sites.

Whether these sites occupy strategic economic roles and potential or contribute to the sustainability and enjoyment of a local neighbourhoods they are equally critical to the Scottish planning system. It is therefore important that digital planning tools and the application of spatial data enables this and ensures that such key sites across Scotland and within individual communities make a positive contribution to place. Site analysis, interactivity and the use of digital survey techniques can therefore be supported and informed further by tools or techniques which support site promotion.
